“Third generation of my family to use CCY. They re-roofed my parents' house in the 90s and mine last spring. Same straight talk, same clean job site.”
“Two other companies told me I needed a full replacement. CCY fixed the flashing for a fraction of that. Guess who's getting my roof when it's actually time.”
“Hail claim felt overwhelming until CCY met the adjuster at my house. New roof, and I paid my deductible. Crew was done by 4pm and the yard was spotless.”
“Quote came in $4,000 under the storm-chaser outfit that knocked on my door, and the crew showed up when they said they would. The foreman walked the whole roof with me after.”
“Called about a leak Tuesday, patched by Thursday, invoice matched the quote to the penny. They sent before-and-after photos without me even asking.”
“We manage 14 rental units and CCY has done every single roof. Never once had to call them back on a job. That's the whole review.”
The proof is on the rooftops.

View the Full GalleryThis region takes weather from every direction. Spring pushes hail cores across Columbia and Richmond counties, some seasons it’s pea gravel, some seasons it’s golf balls that strip a decade of granules in ninety seconds. Summer runs near-daily thunderstorms up the Savannah River valley, with straight-line winds that crease shingle tabs a row at a time. And then there are the ones everyone remembers by name: Hurricane Helene in 2024, which put oaks through more Augusta roofs than anyone alive had seen, and the 2014 ice storm that did the same with pine limbs from Aiken to Thomson.
Your homeowners policy exists for exactly this. Our job is making sure that when the storm takes your roof, the claim process gives it back, fully, correctly, and without you fighting a carrier alone.
Most storm damage is invisible from the driveway, which is how it goes unfound until it becomes a leak, sometimes a year later, after the claim window has closed. From the ground you might see the tells: dents in gutters, downspouts, and soft aluminum vent caps; granules piled at downspout exits; shingle tabs that look unzipped or shine dark where granules used to be; neighbors’ roofs suddenly wearing contractor signs.
On the roof, it’s clearer. Hail leaves bruises, soft spots where the granules are crushed into the mat, the shingle’s armor broken even though nothing looks “torn.” Wind leaves creases across tabs whose seal strips have let go; they lie flat and look fine until the next storm lifts them like shutters. Every one of these gets photographed, dated, and mapped on our inspection report, the documentation that decides whether your claim gets paid properly or lowballed.
First: inspection before claim, always. If the damage isn’t claim-worthy, filing anyway just puts a mark on your claims record for nothing. We tell you straight, either way, for free.
Second: documentation. Dated photos of every bruise, crease, and dent, slope by slope, plus the collateral evidence (gutters, vents, screens) adjusters look for to confirm the storm.
Third: you open the claim. It’s your policy and your call, a five-minute phone call or an app photo upload. We give you the storm date and the documentation packet.
Fourth: we meet your adjuster on the roof. Not in the driveway. This is the step that changes outcomes: adjusters are human, they visit twenty roofs a week, and a contractor on the roof pointing at documented damage is the difference between a full-replacement scope and a “we’ll allow one slope” scope. If the first scope misses damage, we file the supplement with photos.
Fifth: approved claim, new roof, deductible only. The carrier pays the claim minus your deductible; the roof usually goes on in a day. Most CSRA homeowners are shocked at how small the out-of-pocket ends up being, that’s what the premiums were for.
South Carolina and Georgia both require you to actually pay your deductible. Any roofer who offers to “eat it,” “waive it,” or “work it into the paperwork” is describing insurance fraud with a smile, and telling you exactly how they’ll treat your roof. It’s also the fastest way to sort local companies from the storm-chaser caravans that follow hail maps across state lines, sell hard for six weeks, and are two states away when the shingles they slapped on start failing. We’ve been at the same Aiken phone number since 2013. That’s the warranty behind the warranty.
Carriers give you a limited window to file after a storm date, commonly one year, sometimes less depending on the policy. The bruised shingles on your roof right now don’t heal; they age into leaks on a schedule of their own. If your neighborhood took hail this spring, or you never had the roof checked after the last named storm blew through, the clock is already running. A free inspection either starts your claim with proper documentation or gives you a written all-clear worth keeping on file.
Weather claims are “acts of God”, carriers generally can’t surcharge you individually for one the way they can for an at-fault car accident. Rates in hail-prone regions rise across the board whether you file or not; skipping a legitimate claim doesn’t exempt you, it just means you paid premiums for nothing. That said, we never recommend filing marginal claims, that’s what the pre-claim inspection is for.
No. It’s your roof and your legal choice of contractor, in both states. Carrier “preferred” programs are procurement arrangements, not quality rankings, pick a local company you can drive past in five years.
Quarter-sized and up reliably bruises most shingles; smaller hail damages older, brittle roofs, soft metals, and anything the wind drove sideways. Age matters more than size: 1-inch hail on a 20-year roof can total it while barely marking a 3-year roof. The inspection settles it, not a rule of thumb.
Denials and thin scopes are often first offers, not final answers. With proper photo documentation we file supplements, meet the re-inspection, and escalate honestly when the damage is real. What we won’t do is manufacture a claim that isn’t there, which is exactly why carriers take our documentation seriously when it is.
